It’s been a few months since I last posted, and it’s officially the new year. And while you would think that this blog would be on resolutions based on the title, it’s not. For me, 2022 is all about saying screw it to perfection and focusing on self improvement.
Kind of catchy… if I say so myself.😉
But in all honesty, there are definitely things that I want to do better this year.
This year I aim to…
- add more variety into my life (with workouts, with food, with date nights, with everything!)
- get more comfortable within a gym setting (just joined Planet Fitness instead of JUST doing at-home workouts)
- share more of my story on Instagram (surprisingly there’s a lot that I haven’t shared)
- really “gung-ho” things with Not a Standard (my passion project)
And much more.
What it all comes down to is that this year, I’ll be continuing to say screw it to all my fears and doubts, and keep working towards getting it all. Getting everything I WANT from life and loving the life I have while wanting more.
Sounds easy. Sounds simple. And it’s not. Any lifestyle change or anything with self improvement is hard.
Just felt the need to point that out.
So today I wanted to share a few ways to simplify it all. I’m sharing a few changes that you can make depending on what YOU want to do this 2022! And sharing along some of the products sent to me by Babbleboxx to get me going on my 2022 goals!
If you are…
1.) Looking To Eat More Protein
- Increase the amount of chicken, red meat, fish, tofu, or eggs that you consume daily (instead of doing 3 oz do 4 oz, etc)
- Add in Greek yogurt or cottage cheese as a daytime or nighttime snack
- Replace sour cream with plain, unflavored Greek yogurt (works on baked potatoes and fajitas!)
- Add protein powder into your day (whether that’s adding it to a smoothie, mixing it in your muffin recipes, and/or having protein pancakes!)
- Add collagen powder into your morning coffee or smoothies (it’s tasteless)
- Sipping bone broth (can make chicken noodle soup with it)
- Add cheese (a great snack is string cheese paired with fruit and/or nuts)
- Have some chocolate milk and/or purchase nut-milk with added protein
Essentially, there are a variety of different ways to include more protein into your day. And it doesn’t have to mean simply adding chicken or anything of the sort. You could make it fun, delicious and simple, especially by using protein powder-like that from this Resolution Box.
While I have yet to try it because I couldn’t safely travel with it to California in my one carry on bag, I’m excited to try Shaklee. You can add 8 oz of milk, ice, and add-ins (like peanut butter, chocolate chips, fruit) to a blender. Blend it up. And in less than 5 minutes, get a post workout snack that’s filled with 20 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber, 24 essential vitamins and minerals. And if it matters to you, this vegan protein powder is NON-GMO and vegan!
2.) Start A Business/Getting more organized
In order to start anything, including a business, you have to figure out what it is you want. From there, you can figure out the steps you need to take to get there. For many this includes filling out a business plan (like this one), speaking to other entrepreneurs and/or finding a mentor, and scheduling in the day to day tasks into a planner so that you stay on task and remember what’s most important.
One of the tools that I’ve really come to love are multi-colored pens and highlighters because they make the process more fun… call me the crazy one.
But in all honesty, I think it’s something that many can relate to. Most recently, I’ve come to love this set gifted to me by BabbleBoxx…The Journaling set by Zebra Pen with midliner highlighters (aka double ended highlighters which are amazing) and saris clip gel retractable pens (which are smudge-free pens)!
Not sure about you, but I love being able to color code my planner and stay organized. With so many different things going on-including puppy vet appointments (coming in February), flights, articles that need to be written, and my Instagram page, it helps me to remain organized without much effort. And it looks way more pretty than using just a standard black pen!
…
3.) Eat More Veggies
Maybe you get enough protein and already started the business, maybe for yourself, you would like to eat more veggies and get more antioxidants.
And while it’s not something I’m currently working on (being the girl who loves vegetables), there are many out there that don’t like them at all. And I get it.
But that alone doesn’t make it impossible… you can get the antioxidants simply by drinking them.
- You can buy a juicer and juice veggies.
- You can add fruits (like frozen bananas) easily to your protein smoothies in lieu of ice…and it makes them EXTRA CREAMY.
- And if none of those seem easy or realistic, there’s always the option to buy juices or
pre-made smoothies.
Speaking of which, here’s another product that may be useful for yourself. It came with the rest of my Babbleboxx.
Beetology Drinks!
These are already blended organic cold pressed beet juices made with all natural ingredients, no preservatives, and no artificial colors or flavors that contain vitamins and minerals associated with lowering blood pressure, fighting inflammation, increasing stamina, detoxification support, booting immunity, and mire. Essentially, they do a lot of what eating veggies would do minus the fiber component (which helps keep you full and regular).
4.) Take Breaks and Time For Yourself
Maybe you aren’t interested in any of the above. Maybe you just want to take more time for yourself. And it is possible… without the guilt.
What’s important to note, is that it’s so important to take a break to do something you like and enjoy. What may be considered a break for someone else, may not be the same for yourself. Essentially, you have to try out and see what feels enjoyable for yourself. (Side note: It probably won’t be the same as everyone else.)
This could mean…
- a manicure/pedicure
- working out (whether it’s yoga, lifting, or running)
- planning a day out with friends or your SO
- going to the beach
- taking or planning a trip
- reading a book (loved reading The Wish by Nicholas Sparks AND currently loving the Will Smith book!)
- taking a long shower or bath
- lathering in Vitamin C Whipped Body Butter… like the one I got from Tree Hut in my Babble Boxx.
For those who are not too familiar with the product, I’ve tried it and love it. This one contains Vitamin C, Alpha Hydroxy Avid, and natural shea butter. With all ingredients combines, it helps to moisturize my skin which tends to get really dry during this season. (Side Note which doesn’t apply now for me while in California, but will in a few weeks… boy am I ready for summer weather!)
5.) Drink Less and/or Not Drink at All
Maybe you want to drink less or don’t want to drink this 2022 (all while keeping your social life). Might sound impossible, but it isn’t (Fun Fact: I hardly drink… like once in a very blue moon.)
Here are a few things that have helped me…
- drinking seltzer with lime in it
- stating the obvious that I don’t drink when out and about
- drinking kombucha
And while I haven’t tried it yet, they have products like Monday Zero Alcohol Gin which is a non-alcoholic drink that looks exactly like a “regular drink” when poured out.
Essentially, it let’s you keep your social life while letting you take control of your health.
So silly post and all, but if there’s one point I’d love to make it’s this. That everything worthwhile takes change. That in order to get the life you really want, you have to take it day by day. What works for you won’t work for others and that’s part of the post. Life’s not about doing what others do, but in doing what feels right for yourself.
So this year, I hope that you join in and say screw it to perfection, and heck yes to self improvement. Let’s make ourselves better this year.
