Today on Instagram I shared this gem,
“If there’s one thing I want you to know, when you come across my page, it’s that regardless of what others think and regardless of what you’ve been through, YOU can do it all. Screw the odds.💗
In ten years, I’ve been through the ringer. Dad had an affair before senior year of high school and that was followed by inpatient for anorexia followed by college. My dad filed divorce papers intentionally the day before I went to college. 😳As you can imagine, I struggled a bit with the anorexia as I was unsure whether I’d even be going home due to financial circumstances. When I went home, I thought things would be better, and they weren’t… it took two years of trudging on through mental and emotional abuse (which is one of the hardest and most embarrassing parts to recall back on-even though it wasn’t my choice) and ultimately led to a restraining order from someone my mom met on a dating platform.
Fast forward a few years, I not only graduated college🤓😌, but I did so as valedictorian. Not only did I get dropped by outpatient help and almost die because of it, but said screw it and that’s why I’m where I’m at now. That’s why I started @notastandard_ so that others in similar situations could at least be inspired not to give up.
👉So I know it’s a lot in just a few sentences…and I haven’t even mentioned a lot of what happened. But ultimately, the reason I’m sharing this is because there are so many that told me I couldn’t. And there are so many sadly, watching and waiting for me to fail. (Truth😳)
👉So you know what I say, girls can do anything. Screw it, do it, and take pictures. I have no plans of failing, but if it happens, I’ll be sure to get up once again. So I say, let’s screw it and make our lives better than it is today.💗
Why Share Again?
I just wanted to share again. If there’s anything I’ve learned throughout my life, it’s the fact that life is unpredictable. You never know when your life can change for the bad or for better. All you can do is to trudge forward despite what comes your way. And not only hope, but work for better days.
So just a bit more motivation than my Instagram post today. I just wanted to share this for anyone going though bad times along with a few Michele-isms (below). Feel free to pin them to your Pinterest boards as reminders.
Remember…we got this!
