A while back I posted this Michele-ism on Instagram, it said,

While it’s a year later, it’s so true… the fact is that none of us know what’s in our roads. So all we can do is to keep trudging on.
But in all reality, I also know that’s easier said than done. So how do we trudge on?
We take today, as it is. The good, the bad, everything…and we do the best that we can. Sometimes that means feeling like a failure and going on in spite of it… just doing the best you can and knowing that there’s always tomorrow and tomorrow can always be better than today.
So why am I sharing this?
Because this is the mentality that had helped me and helps me today. So I just wanted to share to motivate you and keep you going in spite of any “greys” in your day.
Here are a few of my favorite posts that I’ve shared on Instagram. Hope they push you to do better… as they have for me.
1.) When You Feel Like You Don’t Belong:

Can I be honest for a second? There are some days where I feel like I don’t belong on this platform and days where I don’t even know where I belong in real life. I overthink, i post photos that are a bit different from what others post, and for the last ten years I’ve pretty much survived rather than thrived. Half the time I don’t know what I’m posting until the morning of and half the time I ask myself why I have to write these long captions of mine.🤷♀️
…
👉But then I post anyways and do my thing because seriously, what’s belonging anyway?
…
✨So just a quick reminder to be who you are and to live your life. There really is no such thing as normal if you want to live your best life. Be passionate about what you believe, post whatever you want to post, go out of what’s expected of you and what you’ve been told. Because what it all comes down to is the fact that although we may be different, we are all in this journey called life together. Don’t ever feel like you don’t belong.
2.) When You Don’t Know Which Road to Take…

No matter what anyone says, It’s hard to forge your own way in life. To do something completely different than what others are doing and to follow your dreams rather than just following your mind. It’s hard trudging on without knowing what’s next… it’s hard, but necessary. That’s the only way you will ever get what you truly want to get.
…
So what’s next in your road, you ask?! Here’s my advice… Just keep working, keep hoping, and go get it.❤️
…
👉PS Left photo was a physics competition at high school. At the time I had to chop my hair short due to the effects of anorexia. Nobody knew what was going on in my life and there were many nights where I thought I’d die in my sleep. Today, I’m here… ten years later as a #justfabpartner and more life experiences than I can share on here, and being my silly self. And that’s why I’m sharing on here… to show that it is possible to forge your own road no matter how difficult the journey.💗 much love, Michele
3.) When You Are Waiting for for Your Time…
So there’s this saying they everything comes to you at the right time and to be patient, but I don’t know about you, but it’s not that easy. Sometimes we wonder whether the “time” will ever come for ourselves. Essentially, what it comes down to is that it’s never easy believing in just a quote… so don’t!
…
Instead of waiting, take a step back and figure out what you need to do to make “your time come.” Break it down into small steps and do everything you can today. And when tomorrow comes, choose to do even better than yesterday.
…
✨Why share? Because this is the mentality I’ve used and still use today. Because honestly, It’s better to work for everything that you want and not get it, rather than flying by life with regret.
…
So there’s my mini Michele-ism😉 for the day. Let’s end 2019 with a bang! On that note, tell me… what’s one thing you are working on today?
4.) When You Are Going Through Hard Times
Scrolling through Pinterest today and found this gem, “When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile!” And I couldn’t agree more. As hard as it is, sometimes just finding one thing to smile about will help you trudge along.😁
…
👉True story. When I was living in an abusive situation at home quite a few years back, I felt defeated and unsure what to do next. I was in such a bad predicament and for the longest time I debated on where to run away to. I didn’t feel safe. 😱While it eventually worked out, my dog (the dopey brown lab you see) is what helped me get through some of the hardest of days. And even to this day, some days my life is filled with drama, but it’s the small things that get me through the days.
…
👉So maybe this is a little deep, but point is.. you can always find something to enjoy in the midst of things coming to be. it’s not easy.. I know, but say in there and keep your head up. Eventually YOU will get through whatever it is and find better days. …
👇P.S. TELL ME… WHAT MAKES YOU SMILE?
5.) When You Wonder If Your Story Matters
Sharing a different kind of transformation photo… believe it or not this was taken around 14 years ago! Why share? Because from the left to the right, there’s not much of a change. But if you only looked deeper into the picture you would see that everything has changed. From dealing with my parent’s separation in senior year to two stints inpatient for anorexia… to a ten year struggle with anorexia to getting a restraining order. From taking medical leaves from college… to graduating as valedictorian. My life has been a series of ebbs and flows. And despite the smile I show today, there were so many times that I felt helpless, unsure, and just so ready to give up.🤷♀️
…
👉But that’s just it… sometimes life knocks you down more times than you think you can handle. And sometimes you may have strong desires to give in and give up. Don’t!
…
Be the girl or guy that trudges through putting one foot in front of the other every single day. Because you know what… you never know what’s next in your road.💗

Ps Speaking of roads, my experience and education led me to my passion a few months back. For those who don’t know, I founded @notastandard_ . It’s all about using our stories and struggles to inspire others to keep going. And I just wanted to share because if you have a story and/or any type of struggle, you are more than welcome to go to the site and share your story. Your story matters. And your support means the world.💗
So just a few of the many posts that I share on Instagram to keep you motivated. Why share them? Because I care. I know what it’s like to be down in the dumps and to feel like your a lost cause. I know what it’s like to be rejected (hey, I was rejected from getting help and support), but I also know what it’s like to get back up.
