Scrolling through Pinterest and found this gem, “you’re gonna show them what you’re made of, gorgeous one. Carpe the fucking diem. Be the world’s aphrodisiac.” (Erin Van Vuren). Quite a statement, and yet so necessary to remember. Life isn’t always easy and oftentimes you are turned down several times before you hear a yes… trust me I know. Rejection as a person and even as an entrepreneur is something I know well of.
And while I’ve shared my story many times on here and on Instagram, I wanted to share a few tips that helped me get past rejection and to move on towards getting the future I wanted and loved.
Because let’s face it… at the end of the day, all of us want to be like Julia Roberts in that scene in Pretty Woman. You know, the scene when she returns to the store with BAGS filled with clothes she had purchased from another store to show how much commission they had lost. She knew that she deserved to be treated better from the start. And she knew that she shouldn’t have been judged solely on what she looked like or who she was.
That there is goals.
How To Trudge On In Spite of Rejection
1.) Take a Step Back & Say “Screw It”
This is going to sound counter-intuitive, but sometimes you have to take a step back and say “screw it.” Instead of thinking of yourself as the problem, you need to turn the situation around and realize all that they are LOSING out on by losing you. AKA Thinking this way…”If they don’t want me, then they don’t deserve me.” Always think you are going to get better.. because you will!
2.) Focus on the things you have.
Don’t let one “no” or one negative thing RUIN your day. Think about all the things you have rather than what you don’t have. Sometimes gratitude helps turn the day around. (And if it helps to write it down, they make gratitude journals…figures! How cute is this one?
3.) Take a break. Take a walk. Get outside just to get fresh air. Call a friend. Get a workout in. Do something to keep your mind off of it.
Don’t second guess it. Just do it.
4.) Keep Trying.
No matter how many times you are rejected, you have to pick yourself up and tell yourself to try again. It’s when you stop trying that you fail. So keep pushing yourself out there, keep being rejected, and keep moving. You got this!
5.) Motivational Quotes.
Yes. Motivational quotes help. I promise. While I post many on my Instagram, I also post a lot under each blog. Check them out below!
So silly message, but it’s something I always do in my life. And as silly as it sounds, it does help. Just remember, sometimes it doesn’t matter what you are capable of, it’s what you do and how you prove everyone wrong!
